Easy Brick Mantle
When we bought our house I was eager to get my hands dirty and start making it our own. Baseboards, trim, paint, cabinets, floors, landscaping, are some of the things we decided to do ourselves. I thought for my very first DIY post I would start with the easiest project I ever did. We stumbled across this one step guide to a cheap and easy fabulous fireplace makeover accidentally and sure glad we did.
STEP 1 Run out of Paint
As Ali and I finished up the last room of the house, our family room downstairs, we were desperate not to make another run to the Hardware Store. I knew there was no way we were going to finish the room with what paint we had left. Ali insisted we attempt to get the job done with what we had.. and she was right..(just barely)
My gripper (primer) base coat was applied using a roller (white layer). We chose French Grey for the wall color. As you can see we finished up the bottom half of the fireplace just fine. You can tell which direction we painted if you look close enough (notice its a little thicker on the top left compared to when you look at the bottom right).
We decided that that was exactly the look we were going for all along.
